A very powerful practice is to get a picture of Vishnu that you like. I use the one of him in a lake standing on a petal with his four arms.
Sit comfortably on a chair, with the back straight and heels touching, no shoes with the image in front of you, easily seen. let your hands rest in each other in your lap (ideally left on right with thumbs touching and palms up) or put them in a different Mudra, place the tongue to the top of the mouth behind the front teeth, this is your Assana.
Start by breathing to your belly, and slowing the breath down, for six or seven cycles of in and out breaths (Or if you know how to do 5 cycles of pranyama).
Then, looking at the base of the picture, where Vishnu`s feet sit on the leaf, stare at the picture for a while, a minute or less, then close your eyes and try to see what you were just looking at in your minds eye. After a short time or as the image disappears open your eyes and look again, repeating the process. Try and build/ see as accurate a picture of the image as you can but don`t worry if it isn`t perfect, then slowly work your way up the image, to the legs, then his skirt, and then up to his chest, trying to rebuild the image as closely as possible in your mind`s eye each time. Eventually you will reach the head and do the same there.
There are two main ways to do this practice and both are good. One is as described here, the other is to start at the feet but not to move on until you have got the image exactly in your mind. This may take several days or weeks, but when you have it and can hold it in your mind, then rise up to the next part of the image and so on, until you can hold the perfect complete image in your mind.

Remember to really do Deity practice in Buddhism you have to have the empowerment from there pov.

With that being said you can use the same practice with Shiva or Shakti or Pavarti, etc. You can even do it with Jesus if you wish.

Powerful practices can give powerful results but they can also hit issues/fears or overload someone if they are not ready.

Good luck and be safe.
