The El Camino Trail

I wasnt sure where to situate this thread so here will do.

I am looking to walk the El Camino in 2015 when I get my long service leave. I have joined a few different forums set up for people who have/will be doing the walk, but I thought having a running thread here would also be great and may attract the attention of those who are interested ... hopefully a few stories will be shared ... i am determined to walk it, even though at this point i am not fit enough to get through the first 10 klm's ... thats my aim this coming year ... to get fit and feel capable enough to take it on ... 750 kilometres ... over all manner of terrain ... it should take about 6 weeks all being well ... walking from refuge to refuge ... sun up to sun down and they boot you out after just one night so you are forced to do the next leg of the journey, unless you are prepared to camp out, but that means carrying too much gear ... the trail is marked out with sea shells ... it was a pilgrimage and still is for some ... I am just looking to walk at this point and am conscious of not placing any expectations on its 'outcome' ...

Is there one in AUS? There is one on the west coast of North America mostly in Mexico and California (USA).

Looks like fun and a worthy goal.

FYI 'El Camino' simply means 'the road' in Spanish. I would guess there to be many in the world.

Yes ... the de Santiago is the one that appeals ... I could have put that in my thread title I suppose, but it will still be great to hear of other experiences and roads people have walked ...
