Objectivity is the secret of enjoyment. You are able to enjoy a tragic movie because you know you are apart from it. Had you been even remotely connected with the happenings in the movie you would suffer. Practice objectivity by observing the world around you. Observe external objects, people around you, their appearance, emotions, thoughts. Then shift your attention to your own body, your mind and intellect. You will be in an oasis of peace and tranquillity in the midst of turbulence around. ~ Jaya Row

True . But it's like staying/swimming in water and not becoming wet. The challenge is not to get into a state of non-action. Normally witness does not get into the act/action being witnessed . But in life you also have to play a role and perform action while being witness . So it's easier said than done.
Nevertheless very few seasoned skilled ones only can do so with good practice and grace of God.

Yes, Ramakrishna had stated that the one whose mind is focussed on God while performing his duties constantly, is of a heroic nature (due to difficulty in doing so.)

However it is not easy to keep the mind on God or Self ( witnessing) while performing action. It requires a lot of austerity and practice in the beginning.

It is said that Rajarshi Janaka, practiced austerities in solitude in his youth, which enabled him to be in the witnessing state while performing his duties as a king .

Janaka is considered to be the first man to have attained enlightenment through karma yoga ( yoga of action) and is mentioned both in the Vedas and Bhagavad Gita.
