"The Kingdom of God is within"
The words of a Mystic, imo.

The Gospel of John is another beautiful Scripture from a Mystic.

Yes. Try David's Psalm 139...he ''saw''.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

idol worship and sanatan dharma

Sanatan dharma holds vedas as authority on dharma and all sects which have their own books , commentaries also cite vedas as its origin and clearly claim that it has origins in vedas .
And Vedas consider God as Sagun Sakar ( With qualities and with shape like human form Avtar ) and Nirgun Nirakar (Without any qualities and without any shape - Para Brahma / Paramatma ) .

While upholding Idol worship , it does not deny omni-potent , omni-present God . So it would not be correct to say Vedas consider God as outside . Bhagavad Gita chapter 12 verse 8 is a testimony by God Himself as to where He resides .

मय्येव मन आधत्स्व मयि बुद्धिं निवेशय |
निवसिष्यसि मय्येव अत ऊर्ध्वं न संशय: || 8||

The same exists in other religions also in different ways and ways of describing it and words used to describe it may be different leading to different interpretations . And I also respect other sects / religions beliefs and its interpretations. There is lot of history to it also.

I also agree with your that mystics have been there all the time and all the geographies and no particular religion/region has monopoly on it.

Also mystics are not necessarily heretical or opposed to religions. Simply they are the ones who can see through the mysteries of Creation. They can be very much religious.

People reincarnate in cycles of man and woman every 100 years, which explains how people are not interested in the music of 1923, though more interested in the music of 1823, because 1823 and 2023 people share the same sex.
