Indeed, the distances are great, but perhaps they have discovered us.
It is believed that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light in a vacuum, which means that interstellar travel would simply take too long. But maybe this limitation is just a reflection of current human understanding, and ETs understand how to get around this.
The various unidentified objects in the sky cannot all be weather balloons and secret government aircraft!
