looking back our life lived thus far we see
ego is in bondage but soul is always free
oh worthy hermit, we are not body-mind
we’re born and will die, leaving this form behind

we have visited earth many times before
yet rarely if ever, enter through heart’s door
thus lessons to be learnt, remain incomplete
we’ve embraced not love, felt not magnetic heat

if we but choose the path of thought cessation
our presence becomes one with all creation
ego recedes and our true Self is revealed
resplendent in God’s light, consciousness is healed

Chapter 1 verse 15

Union and separation exist in regard neither to you nor to me.
There is no you, no me, nor is there this universe.
All is verily the Self alone.


Hiranyagarbha, the cosmic egg splits
thus in this manner the one becomes two
polarities orbit love in the void
bringing fleeting joy and sorrow we rue

when we choose to make our heart quiescent
poised in stillness we invoke magnetism
the union of polarities in heart
actuates boundless bliss in body prism

in timeless time our eye becomes single
our presence is one with the universe
as one with onenesss, we become the flame
we’re enabled without need to rehearse

there being nothing outside consciousness
we are both immanent and transcendent

Through the instruction of this truth there is no longer rebirth into this world.”


ephemeral is the manifest universe
held in the womb of boundless space
love in the heart has no need to rehearse
the dance divine being release and embrace

bliss pheromones tingle when our eye is single
all that that then is is the heartbeat of God
in the vast vibrant void polarities mingle
as scattered dust gives love a nod

joy of union and pang of separation
imparts wisdom on the wandering soul
entwined with formlessness and creation
at all coordinates remains blissful and whole

all that that then is is God consciousness alone
why then oh hermit should we have any fear
recognition of truth is the way to atone
within this illusion all forms are dear

Ah, how have I not seen this thread before? I've not read the Avadhuta Gita, but it makes perfect sense to me. Not sure where to start, so I'll go with this latest verse.

The Self/Consciousness/Being is formless. Form appears and disappears and has no substance beside the formless Self. All that moves and changes is temporary and illusory. The formless Self is eternal because it does not change or move. There is no space or time for the formless Self. The world of space and time appears and disappears within the Self.

There is no rebirth into the world of form when the Self is realised. The belief 'I am form' compels rebirth of the soul until the soul lets go of this false belief, and the soul itself is found to be without form, being the infinite formless Self. It is then that rebirth can no longer happen because Self is timeless life itself. It isn't born and it doesn't die.

This verse speaks of how the universe is a play of opposites with the flow between separating and uniting. This is meaningless to the Self, which remains undivided and infinite, without separation. There is no 'you' or 'me' because there is only the Self. There is no universe. There is only the Self and the Self alone.

Hmmm ~ I do not agree that the Self does not change or move, although I do accept that this is the stated position in scriptures.

In as recognised, the Self in singularity, the true being, cognised when ego drops off altogether, It is living light, renewing itself within itself in unending renewal continual, hence movement similar to a heartbeat. Were this not so, it would be inert, wouldn’t it? Yes, there is no space-time, because if it were so, it would not be a singularity.

The Self is without attribute. It is pure awareness, with full freedom, in ineffable peace, feeling complete, requiring no coming or going or doing to be done.

As for rebirth in this or any other realm of duality, at first glance it appears that if the Self is complete, why would it choicelessly choose to ‘descend’ by polarising itself? My view is that the Self, which is what is made in God’s image, though complete, yet is like an embryo, undeveloped in love, wisdom and power, the threefold nondual aspects of Christ consciousness. Note that none of these are attributes, they represent completion or rather growth of Self within itself. Hence descent or rebirth in the world of sharp contrast, where Self grows by overcoming adversity.

If I may further share, upon recognition of Self as stated, though in form bliss energised in permanence and in formless awareness in peace* (*bliss shifts as peace because there is no polarity in singularity as formless awareness), I found that awareness bereft of love is barren. As such, possibly this set up an intent wave, whereupon the Self merged in the ‘heart of God’, which is all love and light.

In my view there is no such thing as final completion. The journey is unending.

As the Self is a singularity beyond space and time, where can it go? It neither moves nor does imo. It is neither inert nor active. It is full yet empty, and neither. It is complete life. It's nature is pure Love.

There is nothing for the Self to achieve. Yet the universe appears as the Self searching for itself. In the universe the Self seems to be the Heart, the still centre, but in the Heart there is only the Self.
