[Unseeking Seeker]

Chapter 1, verse 4. All is verily the absolute Self.
Distinction and nondistinction do not exist.
How can I say, "It exists; it does not exist"?
I am filled with wonder!

inner light caged
by ego upstaged
whenever tested
in jest we rested
feral lower mind
choosing love kind

awake in the dream
where illusions stream
the vaporised self
dances by itself
suffused with bliss
exclaiming ‘I am this’

Taking a step back to chapter 1, Verse 1:

1. Through the grace of God alone, the desire for nonduality arises in wise men to save them from great fear.

{Nonduality - monistic Consciousness, in which the knower, knowledge, and knowable - soul and God - become one; the highest realization of Divinity.

Fear - The word "fear" includes also such states of mind as insecurity, despair, and grief, all of which arise from a consciousness of oneself as limited and separate from others and which therefore can be dispelled only by realizing oneself as the All.}

ignorance is the cause of fear
mistaken that we are body-mind
clinging to objects we hold dear
floundering about as do the blind

freedom within is near at hand
yet to invoke the boons of grace
we must be still to understand
that God holds us in close embrace

Chapter 1, verse 5. “The essence and the whole of Vedanta is this Knowledge, this supreme Knowledge:
That I am by nature the formless, all-pervasive Self.”

Chapter 1, verse 6. “There is no doubt that I am that God who is the Self of all; Pure, indivisible, like the sky.
Naturally stainless.”


Unreal is all that that comes and goes
Beliefs and concepts are thought constructs
I Am living light in renewal, unending bliss that flows
In the light of absolute truth illusionary ego self-destructs

All that is manifest and formless is singular Self (God) alone
Absolute oneness stands outside of time and space
When ego recedes true Self comes into its own
Oh hermit, there are no puzzles to lace

Chapter 1 verse 8:

“I have no mental activity, good of bad;
I have no bodily function, good or bad;
I have no verbal action, good or bad.
I am the nectar of Knowledge -
beyond the senses, pure”


fragmented fickle thought relates to ego
useful of course but we now make it slow
we take expansion as good, contraction as bad
preferring to be joyful rather than sad
but reflect oh hermit, to whom do emotions come
are we not the luminous Self, the very cosmic hum

since we are both transcendent and immanent
pulsations of bliss within us are permanent
Soma nectar flows and we drink to our fill
peering at heaven through soul’s window sill
vagaries of earth life we easily endure
since of heart is pure and innate vibrance demure

Chapter 1 verse 9:

“The mind indeed is of the form of space.
The mind indeed is omnifaced.
The mind is the past.
The mind is all.
But in reality there is no mind”.


reflect oh hermit, on how thoughts arise
first a stirring arises in our heart centre
ego picks up the impulse before it dies
thus in lower mind, thought forms enter

if our heart be quiescent, thoughts cease
cravings of ego in the vast void we release
all that that then is, is our pristine presence
love and light essence being our quintessence

mind is an instrument to learn and discern
but it is heart where flame of love does burn
therein all opposites dissolve and we evolve
when eye is single no puzzles remain to solve

Love, Purity, Heart, Joy, The Absolute, the Indivisable,
Freedom, Inner Light, the Illusion turning into vapor?

the singing sparrow
cares not for the morrow
and yet the dweller of its heart
within form feels bliss ignition start
and so oh hermit, we are that
know it as a certain fact

hold back not heart’s emote
whilst riding on God’s bliss boat

Chapter 1 verses 10, 11

10. “I, the One only, am all this, beyond space and continuous. How can I see the Self as visible or hidden?”

11. “Thus you are One. Why then do you not understand -
that you are the unchangeable One, equally perceived in all?
O mighty One, how can you, who are ever-shining, unrestricted, think of day and night?”


we are containerised in form
and hemmed in by space-time
yet deep within cave of our heart
resounds God’s sublime bliss chime

we tip toe in therein in staid silence
bereft of thought our eye is single
undifferentiated is awareness
as bliss pheromones mingle

all manifestations disappear
we peer through the pores space
light of Self renews itself within itself
truth is known by benediction of grace

in truth the false that died never was
the ego is but an earth life interface
all that is is but light of Self alone
holding reflections in embrace
