Matthew 16:23: Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

The devil, satan, hell, simple words about complex subjects. evil has to have a cause.

yup some don't understand causes. it's pretty simple stuff. philosophies and religions have to come up with a cause for bad human behavior. why do some humans harm others? has to be a cause.

Simple words . . . they have meaning, and meaning changes over time. Devil means slanderer; liar. Satan means resistor; adversary. The first time the Hebrew word satan appears in scriptiure it's to describe a righteous angel who stands in resistance of Balaam. (Numbers 22:22, 32) Hell means cover or conceal. In 1611 when the KJV was produced the word hell simply meant covered, like in dead and buried. A book heller was the person who put the cover on a book. To hel (one l) a house meant to cover a portion with tile. To hell potatoes meant to put them in a cellar.

Words with a similar root have a similar meaning. Hull is the covering of a nut or the covered part of a ship. Heal is the covering of a wound. Hole is an uncovering. Hall is a covered building for gathering or storing goods. Shell. Hill.

God is, in a sense, in hell. (Proverbs 15:11; Psalms 139:7-8; Amos 9:1-2) Jesus went to hell. (Psalms 16:10; Acts 2:27-31) Jonah thought the belly of the fish was hell because he thought it would be his grave. (Jonah 1:17; Jonah 2:2; Matthew 12:40)

And hidden out of sight, gosh it confusing when you try to understand and read Medieval Documents.
King James's personal behaviour certainly wasn't hidden out of sight though

hell is a sick fantasy of evil disposition, it's a lie and always was a lie. the people who get it right do not see hell as being eternal or real. Hell is destroyed once one comes to an understanding of the truth. I know that I shall exist in all the wonderful places of God forever, and hell is just a lie told down here at these lower realms by evil beings. Hell is heresy. I neither fear it nor believe in it. God bless all those who do not think hell is real

The finite world we inhabit dictates eventually the survival of the fittest. It is our ego that informs us that we are separate from others. We choose duality instead of non-duality. With that we perceive and construct opposites….good vs. evil etc…..
