Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.

I've been working on this for years and I made some big improvements. To me this is the state that I've been working hard to achieve for whole my life. It's not easy, it's super hard, very difficult, we are built in such a way to always be the ones who rule over our lives. Try give your life for God for 24 hours, you'll see that you'll find yourself taking control many times over the course of those 24 hours. A word, a thought, an action, anything can trigger the control maniac within us.

Maybe you @Miss Hepburn and others can, I can't fully do this, I can do it for some temporary time but I think one of the things you notice when you give your life to God is that you become aware of the every NOW that you are in. I was observing myself and the people around me as if I was floating over the whole scene. This helped me not give in to the control maniac. You see the play of of life and have the choice to stay as the observer or act with love, of course, you can give in but you know this is not "the choice".

Well, I'm not different than you.
Well, perhaps in a couple of ways. Lol!

When I went on this 'trip' of trusting God, Jan 2006...my desire was very strong...I had reached my limit of 'suffering', see?
When a person says, gritting their teeth, "No More!" And they mean it...things happen; things change.

That is the only difference between you and an advanced yogi...desire and the tolerance of pain...
theirs was lower than yours...they said, "No More."
As I did.
Hang in there, my friend, when you've had enough emotional or psychological pain, aka suffering...and you put your foot down ---
that's when power begins.

Done in various ways

You simply meditate on scripture or bible verses by continuously speaking it to your self aloud until your spirit man lays hold of it and it then becomes a revelation or what we call rhema word.

that's what it does to me too. it zaps me into this present moment and onto what i am doing now. my focus is right now, right here

it makes sense as whatever thought is present now is the only one i have to be aware of, to notice the thought i am giving reality or meaning to now. then when i am aware i am doing it, it shifts am i am not doing it. the noticing pulls me out of it in a sense.

I've done that enough that in this lifetime I've had a healthy respect for not going there...

There are verses that are like my rock...I can go to at any time. Yes.

Lol - I watch my cat...say, I push it's paw away for touching my keys as I'm typing...
the very next second I pet it's head --it is right there with my hand petting it. It has forgotten
any moment before that or in the future it is RIGHT THERE. Ya know?
So cute...enjoying the simple moment.

The first 3 days I decided Never To Worry Again ...ya know I would laugh ...cuz my mind actually got 3 full sentences
in of total worrying before I caught it!!!
I was like a Sentry at his post shooting down random icky unwanted thoughts....and like a sentry ---if you fall asleep you're in big trouble!!!
(Some can call that being a 'spiritual warrior'...yes it was...the Battlefield between the ears!!)
Btw, I won the battle..got promoted!
