This is a really great questioning line and a very interesting stage
of the awakening process (all the stuff you first mentioned is part of that too, the body goes through energy re-alignments, in time it all settles down unless you are like a few of us who are pretty psychic and the third eye and crown chakra opening thing continues, but you learn to not only live with it but to drop into higher awareness and see why your internal radar system is beeping)
There is a line of thought that says it's a goal to achieve non-attachment/non-desire and it does at times seem generally good advice or at least the ability to move into Observer State does, but as you said it's a Joy Killer too and after a while being numbed out by not having desires and emotions kinda seems zombie-ish.
So how do we land this experience on the 3D tarmac? We're unplugged from the Matrix, yet still have a program/character running in the matrix, which won't cease till the body dies.
We all come to different conclusions and all I can do is share mine (current and subject to change without warning!)
In a nut shell when we're in spirit form having gone through everything required to learn to do that, we're in other dimension consciousness - fourth and up - depending on ...well who knows what, I've yet to sort all that out. lol
But we can transcend the body and move around through many realms, viewing and communicating with those who are there, we learn matter, as in solid matter is only achieved through having a body limited to five sense, because in spirit form everything is porous, we pass through the door, through the world, through the dimensions. We can move to other times in Earth 'history' view things then, get blueprints out of the Askaic Records for early technologies. We learn nothing is hidden, all that has ever happened still exists and is accessible by those who've given themselves permission to access it.
We can compare notes in the 3D world with others and learn they saw the same events, seen past longer or shorter clips and from other angles.
But We don't feel temperature when in etheric/Spirit form, we don't taste, smell, sense time, have emotions, other than loving acceptance of all that is and so on - we are Pure Essence and capable of great wonders with just our Intention.
So we are both, body with 5 senses and a perception of being human and also Spirit which we don't know the limits of or even if there are limits.
For me the struggle is riding the fence, finding the balance, being comfortable and safe in the body and in 3D consciousness while still maintaining multi-dimensional consciousness.
Knowing when I'm slipping in time and getting off the road till 'time' stabilizes again, knowing when 'solid' objects are getting fuzzy and determining if it's safe to drop into meditation and go exploring in the etheric realms or to fight it off and stay in the body until the timing is better.
Knowing when it's been too long since I went 'traveling' and am becoming to ensconced in the 3D construct and sliding back into duality, emotional stances and on the verge of developing beliefs as opposed to first hand experience.
We are in body until it passes back to the dust from which it came and we can do a lot of cool things with the body, Spirit can soar over and through the mountain, communicate energetically with the Mountain's Being, but only the body can see the details in the flowers/bark/feathers/fur, only the body can smell the crisp scented air, feel it on skin, only the body can feel the emotional rush and reward of reaching the summit or taste the wild strawberries on the way up to it.
To me we must be in body also because it too has value and is another way to explore/experience/create and learn. Only the body can work with substances to create things which can be experienced/learned from by others with 5 senses. Spirits 'hands' pass through everything - nothing is solid for Spirit. So I create, there is much pleasure in it, Spirit often moves to me ideas of what to create, even takes over and uses the body to birth things into the 3D realm.
Comic books are helpful for landing on the 3D tarmac, what did Superman do when not in dusty old phone booths or when out saving the world? He was a regular human, with a job, a gal he pursued, with memories of loss and dreams for a future and goals. It's the same for all Super Hero's they have to balance the Extraordenary with the Mundane. Without the balance they'll get lost in one or the other.
Integration/Co-Creation - being all three with ease - Spirit and Body and Mind and using all together seems to me to be whats worth still being here for.
