Laurell K Hamilton wrote about such a thing, and called him selkie, in her continuing Meredity Genrty series...I didn't make any connections to mermaids - dont' know why exactly....

I certainly think there are small truths to every "myth"
If a person reads the history of the anunnaki, recorded in the sumerian tablets, and translated by a few people, then mermaids are certainly possible.
The anunnaki were expert geneticists, and they created half man, half animal creatures like the minotaur. There is no reason then to discount mermaids.

I believe Mermaids could very well exist , just like aliens
. I wonder if Mermaids look diffrent than how they are depicted in books and media. We just never know what is out there in the unknown .
