The Crucifixion of Christ
I had brought this topic up in another forum. It did not go well...
"If believing He died for you could provide you an egress into a whole new life, could you?"
My point was, if you believed his crucifixion was for you, that it can release you from your pain, suffering and regrets, would your life change from there? The phrase "born again" is often used as an analogy for crossing the line between doubt and belief.
I invite our Christian Friends to extrapolate on the above and further explain the significance of the Cucifixion of Christ.
As always...Namaste.

1. Belief is often not a choice. Try believing in something you don't believe.
2. Believe and see, is not unique to Christian group. Pretty much every group dishes out this line.
3. Faith should be a factor, component but not the foundation, way. Truth and Wisdom should show the way.
The crucifixion is for us, in the manner that it shows us the way. That we lay down even our lives for love and that we walk our talk no matter what. It was also a sign but signs are not what we should base things of. They are kind of an extra thing for the unbelievers and wicked so that they cannot say if this had been done, we might have repented.
Born Again. IMO this is just another way of saying repent. Washed off evil and born in goodness of spirit of Love and Wisdom. Going into belief is being born in the spirit of goodness of Love and Wisdom. Any other belief or absence of the change of Spirit is not belief in Christianity. We have distorted Christianity to serve the devil.

FallingLeaves,
if 'christ was' not 'promoting what he did as a way to make people happy....'
......... then what was he promoting?

Happiness is the result of an enlightened mind whereas suffering is caused by a distorted mind.

foundation123,
re: "Belief is often not a choice."
I would say that it is always not a choice- at least not a conscious one.

Personally I think it's a metaphorical story and didn't physically happen but even if it did it would of been invalid according to Jewish biblical ways of sacrifice that was allegedly given to them by God who was quoted saying that what he says remains the same forever and that he doesn't change his mind and so the crucifixion violating pretty much every detail of holy sacrifice and God Supposedly doesn't change his mind so this means that the sacrifice was invalid in every way.

If the sacrifice is a lamb. as in this case a perfect lamb, would that in of itself qualify?

BigJohn,
He was promoting a return to the Father. We are all ‘prodigal sons’ to one degree or another.
