Most mediums are communicating with beings who had human form, so the mind 'translates' the consciousness into a person. There's a saying - "All Spirit is thirty-five years old." Of course Spirit doesn't have an age as such there is an understanding that what the medium perceives is a representation. Humans simply don't have the capacity to perceive Spirit 'as-is'. If the medium is communicating with what was a dog then the medium will see a dog, it's very rare but it does happen. Dogs and other animals go to 'heaven', too.

I see spirits but I don't believe I really 'see' them. I believe I perceive them. For example, if somebody knows what they are doing, they can make people 'appear' in a room. Those 'extra' people in the room, I don't believe are there, but I do believe they are perceived to be there. This is an area must people don't want to discuss.

When she thanked her guide she said...''Wasn't me''.
Turns out it was her grandma that at 35ish on the Other Side, did not have time to change for Sylvia to her long gray hair.

My first such experience was many many years ago when I saw my friend Andy in my room very clearly at about 3 AM in the morning. He was smiling and waving good-bye. I used the above story since many people claim to see spirits when it is only a projection of their own imagination. The above story was immediately verifiable as were many of my other experiences.

A medium asked me a similar question during a Zoom chat a couple of months ago. This 'came' to me in a flash: "A spirit can animate a body whereas a ghost can not."

You shouldn't generalise.

Only proper statistics can show the full picture. Otherwise there is no way to know which mediums are clairvoyant and/or which other individuals (who are not mediums) can see spirits. (Just being aware/seeing/hearing discarnates doesn't make one a medium, by the way.... )

In mediumship, when the descriptor 'a spirit' is used it's to signify the spirit of a formerly incarnate human. So 'a spirit' doesn't appear in animal form as it was not an incarnate animal.

The spirit form of an animal can - of course - be seen by some or most mediums but they don't communicate with the animal in the sense they do with a human spirit.

Some sensitives claim to be aware of spirits who have never incarnated in human form but such awareness isn't mediumship.

It gives an interesting insight into the differences between the way a spirit may present to someone in this world (familiar features) and the way they choose to present to other spirits in their own.

I've often said as a joke that when I pass over one of the first things I'll have for myself is a full head of luxurious, thick hair! And I'll change style whenever I fancy a change!

But if ever I get to present to someone still incarnate who knew me I expect I'll show myself the way I was in this world - follicly challenged!
