David Lynch explains Transcendental Meditation

I tried transcendental meditation years ago after reading about the technique in a book. It said something about seeing your thoughts as bubbles coming up through water to the surface and to try to look further and further to the origin of your thoughts.

David Lynch produced Eraserhead.

It's fun, I had seen the David Lynch video about transcendental meditation 2 or 3 years ago.

It's great, most of it is very true, no problem; spiritual people "radiate", stand out, etc.
The problem is *Deleted*
So what David Lynch forgot is empathy. How do you ignore all these suffering people / beings that will never change their habits?

By concentrating on your self - your own growth....as I am ignoring your anger and negativity here.

It has no place on this Forum and has been deleted.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.

Indeed I wasn't focused enough I guess, too much empathy leads to negativity, it's not coming from myself I promise !

But I think there is a cultural gap, anyways, I have written my own moderation before your intervention

This is a very broad question as there are many different systems of meditation. And it also depends on why you want to meditate.

If you are unfamiliar with meditation then there are numerous books and websites which give practical instructions for those new to meditation. Maybe study these and see what you are drawn to. The easiest way to begin is meditation on the breath - you can always move on to other systems when you feel ready.

Regarding TM, there are those who have been happily using TM for decades. While there are others who began with TM and then moved on to other practices, having reached a plateau with their TM practice or having become disillusioned with the organisational structure around TM.

For me, the historical value of TM is that it introduced many people in the West to meditation, making it accessible to those who might otherwise never have considered meditation as a daily practice.

Peace

I believe a better question is: Is what I'm feeling and doing now (about those specific cases of suffering) helpful or detrimental to them and / or to me?

The answer should determine what you'll be doing from now on. If the answer includes: anger, hate, fear, or other negative feelings, my contention is that it is detrimental firstly to you, and likely to the others too.

Thank you.
Years ago (before internet) i tried Rudolf Steiner's book. I did not work well. May be another technique i do not remember who was it..., now there is so much...NT has it in Matthew but nit too many details.

Rudolf Steiner was an interesting character who spoke about many subjects. But I would not recommend him as a starting point. Much of what he says is quite obscure for those unfamiliar with the ideas behind his teachings.

There are plenty of books which are more suitable for those new to meditation. Try to find one which does not promote a particular path. If you later want to investigate a particular approach to meditation (e.g. Buddhism) you will at least have some grounding in the subject.

Peace
