Horror and comedy, especially together.

The Exorcist and Jaws are two of my favorite horror films, but more recent horror films have been very disappointing. With "found footage" films like Paranormal Activity, studios see horror films as a way to make fast cash. Consequently, they're lazily made and not very horrifying. Also, horror directors have forgotten what characterization is, apparently.

Same here. Have you seen the "Exorcism of Emily Rose?" I like watching horror movies alone at night. You get more of a feel for it. Last night i was watching "The Conjuring." Good movie.

I love the Western....a very outdated genre these days. Although Tarantino might disagree!

Sci-fi and Fantasy mostly. Its hard to find a good comedy film, which is a shame because i love to laugh. Dunno if 'foreign' is a genre but i enjoy films from certain other non-english speaking countries.

Mostly Fantasy and Sci-Fi genres for me. Anything that stirs the imagination with creative expansive worlds/universes are high on my interest.

I enjoy stuff like Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Avatar, Star Wars, Star Trek, superhero theme movies, etc.

I enjoy comedy movies such as Spaceballs, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, stuff like that.

I do enjoy "Down to Earth" movies that are not as fantasy themed, but I tend to gravitate to the "larger than life" theme movies.

I'm definitely huge into animation, especially if it's hand drawn. It's sad hand drawn animal is a dying art. My favorites as a kid were the classic animated Disney movies, Don Bluth films, and anime (granted I didn't know it was anime I was watching until I was a teenager).

What amazes me are the amount of detail, art, and time that goes into creating an animated film.

My least favorite genres are extreme horror and chick flicks. I feel terrible watching extreme torture scenes, but I have no problems watching zombie movies . With chick flicks I can't get into it. It's too...normal for my taste? I don't know it's hard to explain why I don't care for those kind of movies.

LOL at Die Hard and Vacation. You just named the epitome of American movies. :)

I'm pretty sure I saw the original Exorcist when I was a kid only because everyone was talking about it. I greatly preferred the comedy spoof of that though which was called Scary Movie 2. I've never heard of The Exorcism.

Horror is my least favorite genre and I refuse to watch most horror movies. I also dislike most animation movies. Comedy is probably my most favorite. I loved the Vacation movies. Some other genres I like are:

Family
Surfing
Fantasy
Romance
Thriller/Action (sometimes)

To be honest though it really depends on the film. I hated the comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby for instance.

Some of my favorites are Clueless, Blue Crush, The Princess Bride, Harry Potter, Stardust, The Matrix, A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas, Back to the Future, The Time Travelers Wife, Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Groundhog Day, and many more.
