From Casinos to Cannabis business, although ….:

They didn’t talk business as much as they talked relationships: We have a relationship with pot. It’s a medicine from Mother Earth. Like, cannabis is tribal. It is consistent with our relationship with Mother Earth.

Lol.

Native Americans are hit hardest by opioid addiction. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports that Native Americans have the highest drug overdose death rates and the largest percentage increase in the number of deaths over time from 1999-2015, compared to all other racial and ethnic groups. Indian Country is all too familiar with the opioid epidemic.

No doubt Marijuana has medical usages, but I have never seen pot-smoking stop or cure anybody from heroin addiction.
Psychedelics on the other hand:

Not especially impressed by Mike Tyson as it seems everyone on toad poison has the same or similar experience, but I’m impressed by the Toad, lol. It so mimics “Shamanic Death Experience” minus the psychedelics of course.
Though. No REAL Shaman needs them. All one needs is the World View (how to apply it) and how to ‘gather/build Windhorse’ – and “Bob’s your uncle”, but yeah – talking about relationships - I can see how Shamanism and Psychedelics have gone together in the beginning.

In a way I have taken all this forest dwelling and harvesting for granted since I was brought up with it. Seeing it as an utterly ordinary every season thing everybody in the village does & I never saw it as some special “indigenous activity”, but I guess – upon reflection – it is.
Although Forest, be it pine forest or rainforest is always magical.
Satisfaction saturates one’s whole being opening up to it & one feels complete, a part of Totality.

These South American whistles REALLY excite me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YXCziaEUHE
I know them – they are on the tip of my tongue – yet I cannot explain it.
My subconscious knows them – they are there - & I know the use of them … yet I consciously I cannot articulate ….

An Aboriginal friend once asked me whether love or respect was more important.
I could not answer on the spot.
He reckoned respect was more important, but now that I have had ample time to come to it, I think it is ‘PRIDE’.
I am proud as punch that the Aboriginal tribe I integrated into still holds onto The Indigenous Ways and Values, without any self-consciousness or being “indigenous-in-concept”.
IF you know what I mean.
I am also proud of my language and cultural relatives who have held onto their Nature values:

Since my gran’s forefather was either Yakut/Evenk or Dolgan (kinda the same thing) and Yakuts use the Jew’s harp ….
Must say - I have NO subconscious recognition – whatsoever - about this instrument.

“The Death Whistle” pranks are not good on bushwalkers – especially if one doesn’t own up to it, but I can understand the temptation for the pranks:

The Bison Project (Opened 2018?):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQGVGc5NPxk
(Also Learning a bit more about the history of Bison in US. Coming across a perhaps controversial historical character:
Quote:
William Fredrick "Buffalo Bill" Cody (1846-1917). The great Wild West showman had a paternal grandfather from Liminka, Finland. "Cody" was actually a deviation of the family's original name Kotilainen, shortened to Koti after the grandfather came to America. Interestingly, Buffalo Bill was even named after said grandfather, whose name was Wiljami – "William" in Finnish.

Yeah.
The Spiritual aspect/dimension of the culture you ImthatIm have been writing about here on this thread is beautiful, yet one has to acknowledge the ordinary/mundane ‘reality-what-is’ as well, which may not be as pretty.
As I see it – until there is the ‘marriage’ of these two dimensions – one cannot enter from survival into the revival mode.
Bringing back the Buffalo was/is vital.
And

Way to go!
Those Earthship buildings seem like an excellent idea as well, and this (co-operation bringing in healing as well):

Yep.
Hand in Hand the Spiritual and mundane should go.
Pine Ridge can use healthy economic development.
