A Buddhist Vision of The Beatitudes.

Blessed are the merciful, for they have learned how to be merciful to themselves.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they have looked into their heart of darkness and smiled with the wisdom of a Buddha, etc.....

I'm sorry, My bad. My mind is taking me to lots of unskillful places this morning.
Just found it odd so soon after having a discussion about the beatitudes going somewhat over them in the Mantra discussion.

But yes, they should have a thread of their own.

I personally didn't notice any discussion in 'The Mantra Thread' just a lot of negativity and complaints. Buddha was correct, our thoughts become our reality.

Merciful.

Imo to be Merciful is to show forgiveness and compassion to those in need, we are indeed blessed if we are able to see that we ourselves are also in need. We can't give to others what we don't have ourselves.

One person perceived discussion.
One person perceived negativity and complaints.

Buddha was right. That is perception based on thought.

Without thought based perception, what is there?
Nothing at all.
Mind is not referenced.
Reality is now. Sensory perception and awareness and understanding.
One is not living in the self enclosed box of ideas.
That is delusional reality. But even though delusional, one can live there.

I've been reading up on the link between Buddhism and the beatitudes.
So far I find most links between them a little far-fetched and strangely lacking in honest investigation as to the 4 noble truths.

They do create opportunities for Sila and possibly gladdening the mind. Not really convinced they are interchangeable between belief systems.

Why do they need to be interchangeable?
