Hi RedEmbers, you're welcome, sound good. I have set up new boundaries myself to someone and even if it is tough at first it will get better, it is always like that I think in the beginning when you are changing the rules. One feels a little lost too in it even if one knows it is the right thing to do. Too good you don't isolate yourself with this. Best of luck! In life we go through many changes, and a relationship is not always consistent. The way I see it you don't have to excuse yourself, and find ways to explain yourself, you could if it makes you feel better, but just don't give away your own self-power, to someone else. (It is so easy for me to write this but at the same time I still have to remind myself not to be quick and say oh Im sorry, or explain myself in situations, takes practice, LOL)

Blood doesn't make family, love does.

I've cut ties with both my parents. I came to realize I'll never have a normal healthy relationship with them and I was exhausted trying. So I stopped. I just don't need that stress in my life.

Traveler,

Were you able to go on and create more healthy relationships?

I never was really close to either of my parents. I had to let go for me, it was just too much stress dealing with their drama.

Because of them, I grew up with a lot of emotional baggage that I had to deal with as an adult. Which I did. I didn't completely cut ties until a few years ago, though.

Thanks Traveler,

I guess through beginning to start out and expand my network, I am feeling rather vulnerable of course and a little bit stuck as the kinds of connections I hope for, feel like an uncertainty, yet I will never know if I remain stuck.

Again, I guess that it gets back to: if I have nothing to loose here, then I have nothing to loose anywhere else so I might as well keep moving

I understand. But working on yourself and unpacking that baggage will serve you well. There's a book that has been around since the 70's called Taming your Gremlin by Rick Carson that is still in print that will help you deal with all those negative voices in your head that make you doubt yourself.
