VISITED TEMPLE

I visited a Temple in Chino, California.
Has anybody else been there?

This is a temple affiliated to Swaminarayan Sampradaya or Swaminarayan movement, and it is rooted in Ramanuja's philosophy of Vishistadvaita ( qualified nondualism). It is mainly popular in north India amongst the Gujaratis.

The Swaminarayan movement also performs various humanitarian service projects in the spirit of Karma Yoga, such as providing educational, healthcare and other social services in India as well as disaster relief including food, medicine and blood donation drives. It also performs such services on a global scale as well.

The founder of the sect, Swaminarayan was known for advancing many beneficial reforms in Hindu society in early nineteenth century, instructed and motivated people to stay away from vices, initiated interfaith dialogue with other religions and created a harmonious atmosphere. He lead by example and precept.

With respect to Swaminarayan's views and body of work, Mahatma Gandhi commented thus, "...the work accomplished by Swaminarayan in Gujarat could not and would never have been achieved by the law."

The temples in the picture are built by BAPS ( a Swaminarayan cult where we treat God as our mentor ). I have seen US temples them only in videos and pictures. They (BAPS) have done good community work in and around Gujarat in India . Original founder of the sect was with impeccable dedication to God . They have built many such temples (In and outside India) with great architecture resembling ancient temples of India in recent years.
