I no longer meditate
Not because I don't want to, alas, I am just unable. There's always an intruder! How can this be?

Unable to meditate may be due either reasons:
1. Possibly your health is not in good shape, therefore you find it hard to concentrate.
2. Possibly you are having so many worries, so many negative emotions within you that make you unable to concentrate.
3. A soul is disturbing you (possible this is what you meant by "intruder"). The problem is this is hard to know since this is the domain of spiritual realm. In short, we cannot see spirits/souls, but they can "see" us. They can freely travel around, and most importantly, affect our life without our understanding. The most common sign is that in the morning you have a different mood (maybe happy), then in the afternoon suddenly you feel sad or anger, the at night you have another mood.
Reason 1 & 2 can be found and dealt with. But if it is the third reason, things will be difficult because normal person has no mean to deal with it, unless seeking help from profession spiritual practictioners (e.g. a priest or a monk)

@ Rishi27 … your assertion reminds me of these lines, reproduced from ‘The Four Noble Truths’ by Ajahn Sumedho:
Buddha was on his way from Bodh Gaya to Varanasi when he met an ascetic who was impressed by his radiant appearance. The ascetic said, 'What is it that you have discovered?' and the Buddha responded: 'I am the perfectly enlightened one, the Arahant, the Buddha.’

I'll pick up your slack, friend. You can return to meditation whenever you get the chance.

I recommend you read the book Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn
It's really easy to read as it was written for Western audiences, is will answer so many questions and misconceptions about meditation, you will devour this book rapidly and with pleasure, I promise. It is a bestseller for good reason. And most importantly, it will help you.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru.
