Dolphins protect swimmer from great white shark

I saw this in the news recently,

What does everyone think about how the dolphins recognising a non-dolphin animal (human) was in danger and protecting it?

There have been many stories of dolphin/human interaction, these creatures are smart and show empathy. It's sad when they get caught in fishing nets.

A few years ago, a whale came into the harbor. She gave birth. The baby whale was struggling to stay at the surface to breath.
A pod of dolphins surrounded the baby whale and with their beaks they helped to keep its air hole above the surface.
About half an hour later the dolphins sensed that the baby was okay to do it alone.
The mother whale stayed nearby and allowed the dolphins to help.
For us who witnessed this, we were in absolute awe - some tearful.

Where I live, I frequently witness dolphins surfing the waves with our surfers. Quite often they show off too.
