Hello Bobjob,

I find jewels when I go look in the old post.

And I do not believe it would accelerate the backup system deleting them, most backup systems now, only copy the new post or the post that have changed since the last backup.

Regards

If the back-up is indeed always incremental then you're right nothing much is likely to be gained. I have no experience of the way updates on commercial servers are scheduled or how long the process takes.

As for old postings it's like keeping any old stuff. Some enjoy looking at old things, others aren't interested. Provided storage of either physical junk or old electronic data isn't a problem then there's no real need to de-clutter.

thanks for that

It shows that those of us who have noticed the outages and are concerned it might signal a problem are not overreacting. Maybe the universe isn't telling us we 'need to get a life' after all.

It's remarkable how some seem to have forgotten the panic some members experienced when they thought they'd have 'nowhere to go', firstly when SF was misleadingly reported to be closing down in October and secondly when the prolonged outage happened after numerous smaller ones signalled developing problems.

Do you know the saying "Nothing new under the sun."? It means that what's happening now has mostly happened in the past. (technology and medicine excepted)

People's present-day behaviors, awareness, knowledge etc. are not novel. Old threads are simply that - old. Old accounts are interesting to you but largely not to me.

I'll probably have heard most of 'em before, even if not exactly similar details.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Nope. It has been happening to me too. A lot. At least every week for the last few weeks. I just figured it was a glitch somewhere between me, my ISP and the forum's ISP. Since the shut down due to covid last year, our internet has dragged constantly. I think it has to do with all the folks working from home. It's gotten better this year but I still notice it lagging on a regular basis.
