Are Cicadas spiritually powerful insects?

I live in an apartment on the seventh floor and cicadas seem to be attracted to my window. Now, normally, I hate insects, but, contrary to popular opinion, I think this particular species I see is kind of cute. (It has black eyes and its body is a light brownish gray sort of color)

I think it was just natural curiosity, but I had opened my window, and still a little intimidated by it, I used the end of a pen to poke at it repeatedly. Part of it was curiosity, as I stated, but part of me also wanted to scare it off. I know cicadas are harmless, but I think I was a little nervous about it damaging/breaking the screen and getting in.

I think I poked the screen about 15 times before it finally flew off. However, it left some powerful negative energy in its wake, especially considering its size. I'm not sure if I was imagining it or if it was able to and genuinely made a statement about not being happy with me.

They are VERY powerful! They can remain hidden for up to 17 years, and only emerge when the time is right.

Cicadas were sacred to the Muses and to both Apollo and Dionysus.Usually they symbolize ressurection,but also what ancient Greeks called mania-a divine state of enthusiasm or exstasy.Cicadas are associated with self-expression,enchantment and metamorphosis.
So,maybe it wasn't a negative energy,if they are attracted to your window,and you live on the 7th floor,they must have good reason for that.Besides,they are not believed to be a bad omen,or bearers of negative vibes.Often we precipitate to label something as negative,whereas it might be just something not illuminated yet.

I love cicadas. They are mysterious and beautiful. You know, you can handle them without fear of harm- they are not biters.

Yes, I know they don't bite or sting and are harmless. I just need to get over my entomophobia, I was also really curious at the time, too.

curiosity can be a good thing, unless you are a cat on the last of your 9 lives, lol

We have them and they scare the heck out of me when they buzz by!! They are big, which makes them intimidating, but the sound they make is a sound of summer to me, so I don't mind it. :)
