VESAK DAY IS COMING!
I used to buy birds on this day so as to release them. I would also give gifts to the elderly, the sick and the handicapped which would bring joy to many.
..............much reflections on this day.
This year Vesak day will be on April 30th in China, May 6 in Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam.
This year, the year is 2020 but in Thailand, they are 543 years ahead of so the year is 2563. But in most other Buddhist countries, their calendar reads the year 2564. Our calendar is based on the 'year of the birth of Jesus' whereas the other calendars mentioned are based upon the date of Buddha's enlightenment. I prefer the calendar that is 543 years ahead of ours. Easy to remember 5 - 4 - 3.
