Native American spirit but not Native American

Since I was very young, I've always felt drawn to Native American spirituality.
despite being a non-native. As I got older, that draw became more and more heightened.

At times when I get stressed and overwhelmed with life stuff, I head to Youtube and listen to and watch "Amazing Grace" in Cherokee by Walela. I find it comforting and soothing. Are there other non-natives who have had and do have that draw?

I wished I got a dollar for every time people have asked me if I am Native American.

I resonate with a cross between the Sobaipuri and Chiricahua Apaches.

Thanks for responding BigJohn. Would you interpret your draw to native spirituality as cellular memory (past life) or simply a deep resonance with animism?

Interesting question.

I resonate mostly with Animism but then I seem to have past life overlays.

Walking on the old trails, visiting sites where homes once existed, eating native food........ all seem to resonate with me.

During downpours (monsoons), if I am driving near Cochise Stronghold (the west side of the Dragoons), I always see a beam of light shining down on the stronghold. It seems to be calling me. Hopefully, some day I will get the full answer.

Feather,

My elder friend always says, when people ask if she is native, “not in this life time.”

I live in the uk but have always been attatched to the Native peoples my grandmother told me a lot about why I was feeling like I was my parents. wouldn't even entertain telling me anything.
mine was a feeling so deep inside that it was imposible to ignore,
that is when I was told I have Native blood in me.
But you would be surprised by how many people believe they are Native

Thank you for responding Anala. "My elder friend always says, when people ask if she is native, “not in this life time.” - I love that. Our spirit takes us on many journeys. Maybe so that, through our experiences, we find a deeper respect and understanding about the oneness of all.

blessings to you,
feather

I find it sad that you were not told by your parents that you had Native blood - but am glad that you finally came to know that. I'm not at all surprised that many people claim to be Native, as it became almost a fad to be a Native "want-to-be." I don't make that claim and I believe if I did an Ancestry DNA test, they would not find an ounce of Native blood. Having said that, I feel a deep resonance with Native spirituality and always have. I guess the Spirit takes us where it takes us.
blessings to you,
feather
