How do I start?
I have just got my first deck of cards (gilded tarot). They are still in the cellophane I am really new to tarot and have no idea of what to do now, could someone help me please.
I was thinking of going through every card first and making a diary, saying how I feel about each of the cards, or do I look up the meanings of each of the cards first and then write my feelings down?
Help! What is the first step? I am so excited!

If you got the set in the black box (as opposed to the orange box), you got a good book to go along with the cards. Barbara Moore is one of the best writers on tarot.
I teach with Gilded (so everyone is on the same "page"). I ask my students not to read the book until after the classes are over because I teach intuitive tarot. But I also tell them that Barbara Moore is one of the best when it comes to writing about the cards and tarot. She's able to brilliantly tap into, and then explain, what the creator wants to convey. (Creator and artist are often the same person.)
So read the book if it's the one by Barbara Moore. If you bought the set in the orange box, the book isn't up to par, but it's a place to start.
Use Gilded in the way it's intended...with lots of symbolism to trigger your own intuitive abilities. Have fun with it!

You might want to check out the site Biddy Tarot - quite informative!

With respect Chirpyrosa, you do not need tarot cards to be the pearl of god, there are pearls of god everywhere who do not even know the words ' Tarot cards '

Again, no offence Chirpyrosa........but
one does not need to shuffle the Tarot in a sunny place and one does not need to lay out the cards in a heart-shaped circle.
What one needs to do is familiarize oneself with each and every card in the deck, preferably a deck based on the Rider-Waite deck - and feel what the symbols on the cards are conveying to you.
Then one needs to get a good book - Rachel Pollock or Mary K. Greer are authors who come to mind - or go to a good Tarot site (such as Biddy Tarot, but there are others) and learn the meanings of the cards. If you know the meanings of the cards then when you're reading for yourself or other people you will eventually add some of your own meanings as well because as you use the cards you will intuitively gain more insight to the cards and add your own meanings.

Thank you guys, unfortunately i did get the orange box gilded tarot, but I got a few books like Dusty Whites - The Easiest way to learn tarot EVER and Around the Tarot in 78 days by Marcus Katz. They both seem really good books.
I also found biddy tarot site which is really good. I'm having a lot of fun :)

One of my most favourite sites is 'Psychic Revelation' ... Just type the name of the card into google along with 'psychic revelation'. The site not only gives you a general meaning of the card, but what it means for specific areas of life such as money, health, love, etc!
Good luck, hope this helps!

I enjoy using Tarot for personal introspection. I recently found a site I really appreciate that has both short "Pithy" and longer "Spiritual" meanings for all the cards.
