Mate who's a twin seems to be drawn to Geminis

I was thinking earlier about how some of my friend Jamie's closest connections are with Geminis, his long-term girlfriend's a Gemini and I am too (I've known him all his life, I love him like a brother), and then it occurred to me that he himself is a twin, although his twin died when he was a baby, of cot death (his twin's called Thomas, which means, funnily enough, 'twin'). That got me to wondering if there could be a link between him being a twin and being attracted to Geminis; I'm pretty dense when it comes to astrology so it could just be a complete coincidence, but I was wondering if maybe someone could shed some light on the subject? Jamie's a Scorpio, if that's relevant.
