The Street From Hell!

My street outside my house is near the town center, so a lot of trouble, me and mom have phoned the police about 20 times now of incidences that have happened outside our house, a man kicking a small child in the head a lot, man beating up his wife, a lot of other things. A guy was just walking in the street an hour ago kicking on-coming cars and traffic, and screaming, not sure if he was on some sort of drug or he was mental. We just phoned the police, nothing back yet.

Anyone else live on a street with lots of events?

Oh dear....I am not sure I would want to stay on a street where those things happen a lot! But I used to live in the city way back in time, and it is amazing what you get used to. I was quite used to anything back then.
But I realised I am happier in the countryside and moved in 1980, originally to Snowdonia (wow....major culture-shock!)
Then to SW England where it is very very quiet and peaceful. And hope this is my last stop.
There are lots of events here! Most of them caused by squirrels and Jackdaws! LOL! A 'human' event happens on average every 10 years....(most of those caused by me! haha)

I hope you and your mother can cope okay with the things going on outside? It must be very upsetting sometimes where you live?

England is not a nice place to live, some parts are beautiful, but you always have the rough parts, we call them ''Chavvy.'' Here.

It's horrible, and mom is a nervous wreck and she was abused as a child, so voilence scares her, and she gets upset a lot. :( - We are hoping to move again soon, we made a mistake moving close to town.

It's getting us down living in Britain, even the weather. :( It's summer and there's no sign of sun, we had sun for 2 days 2 weeks ago, that was about it.

Ah "fun".

I lived on a street where the local mall, a block and a half away, was "affectionately" called the mall from hell by police. This was due to the sheer level of drug & gang activity. Cops generally didn't go there unless someone was having the sh*t beat out of them or already dead / dying fearing that they'd step on the wrong set of toes if they did.

I am not talking little gangs with wannabe punks. We had Hells Angels members - I worked at this mall actually. I really amused this 6'4", built like a bloody linebacker, once ... took in the jacket & asked him if it was still raining outside. He was probably expecting me to turn tail & run. We also had mexican cartel members and some yakuza.

Got to love Canada sometimes - claim refugee status and even war criminals can walk the streets with a scot-free card.

It is unfortunate about the street though not unusual nowadays. And not just in the UK.

Really the only way you can avoid it, and even then it's no guarantee, is move to a higher end of town or move out of town.

Bit of advice about the cop calling though watch how often you call them and about what. Cops have a certain way about dealing with repeat callers I've found and it doesn't matter where one lives, it is "standard practice".

This practice is putting bothersome repeat callers that continually call to complain about well little things or even nothing [noise, illegal parking, etc.] on a list. If you make it onto that list it means your importance in relation to response time drops below a large number of callers. It is the "cry wolf" situation and eventually your calls are no longer taken as seriously as they maybe should be.

Oh, that's so sad and disturbing. I don't have any advice but if there's anyway to move from such a place, to do so. I don't live near any place like that but I lived in just a small village on a regular street lined with houses and trees and I loved the trees but hated the houses. I had to move to the country. I could never live in a big city. It would bring me down terribly.

Anyway, my heart goes out to you and I hope you find a resolution to this unhappy situation. Make your home inside joyful, peaceful ...bring in plants if you can.
