I was intrigued....
Before the forums shut down I had found this site and was going to access it to respond to some thread in this forum.....but I have forgotten which one. This is in the manner of describing everything so maybe you will take a look at it....

You know what intrigues me the most, Molearner, is how the revelations and innermost secrets and knowings across every spiritual tradition is -- so similar. So consistent.
This is why I can believe in the word "God".
Thanks for the link.

Yeah. It may have some merit.
Lots of terminology that I am not familiar with.
The gist of it seemed palatable.

ImthatIm,
The merit for me personally is that I am drawn to heterodoxy as opposed to orthodoxy. Heterodoxy essentially is stepping outside of the box....looking at things in a new light....while not divorcing oneself completely from orthodoxy.
Why accept unquestionably the doctrines of others without contemplating the possibility of new and different understandings ?

You and I share some kinship, Molearner.
My style has always been to read, respect and appreciate orthodoxy whilst exploring that which is beyond the written word.
In coming back, one has a much deeper appreciation for that which is hinted at, written, for the written can never encapsulate that which is beyond.
People talk of God being omnipresent and great; if that were so, how could God be limited only by word, thought or conception. It is, by nature, impossible. How could God be limited, condescending and separative, as is sometimes posited, by inference.
I am grateful to all the Mystics and Esoteric practitioners of faith for they have brought us all innumerable joys and truths that ground our faith and confirm our love for that which is true, and some may call "God"

Christian mystics awaken within a deep love for God. God is everything to them, the world fleeting.
Interior knowing ( gnosis) is the wisdom of the heart in relationship to the soul and God
Nondualism is part of this awakening ( God in me I in God) but it goes further than Buddhist views, it is grounded in God whereas the Buddhists do not go there but would agree that the enlightened soul has divine wisdom.
The Roman Catholic Monk Thomas Merton had no issues having conversations and retreats with Buddhist monks.
I believe in Jesus and I pray in that direction, however, I can also be a practising Buddhist.

Allowing space for new and different understandings is
valuable for spiritual growth IMO.
