That saying, "individual self as illusory" which has a certain popularity among some:

Depends to me on what one may mean by the word "individual" there. I'd say nothing is individual as all are connected to source. But that reality in no way stops me from being an individual. That's the beauty and wonder of the source. It allows individuality within itself! But one can see that I think. When "seeing" from our true nature there is zero difference between anyone. Everyone is an awareness focusing on various content. In that sense we are all the same. But then we have the ability to consciously chose what content we give our energy and attention to. That's where it gets tricky. What we chose to focus on or not focus on changes everything. I believe our destiny is determined on where we chose to have our attention. But then our experience also is dependent on that some what. Really a lot of our experience is karma I think.

A simple metaphor is that woman with two heads. It's one body, with two individuals in it. I think a consciousness within a consciousness is what we are in source. Oh and a baby growing inside it's mother. There again, two consciousness in one body. But then we are talking about something much more fascinating. A being, an entity, an intelligence, in which we as individuals are embedded.

@Maisy

As pure awareness what you say about consciousness between mother and child. A child forms the self through the role models reflecting, it uses the mirror of life as it is to form itself. Where as pure awareness and consciousness within both is just that. It’s is before all that. It isn’t something separate in both.

As humans we are a product of the whole that creates our human design. Consciousness is natures design.. so where and how do you individuate a living breathing consciousness as pure awareness, when we all fall into the hands of the world to build our foundations as a human, that aren’t individuated, but rather formed through what is ‘as a whole’ already.

Like the Israeli man who was beaten by a guard in the prison where he was locked up. He was beaten so badly close to death, when his consciousness left his body, he was looking down at all events playing out, he became everything moving through the whole, even describing he became the dirt under the finger nails of the guard. He became the guard kicking himself.. he was in awe of himself expanded in this way. There was no individual in this experience he had of himself. Two days later, he came too, still in awe and wonder of his experience. He never looked at himself in the same way again.

i believe (not sure) that some traditions may have it that some of the organs are different 'individuals' from the one that has conscious 'control' over the body....

I think many drops of ocean water in the ocean is a better metaphor. Because the way I see it the source and us is made of the same stuff. Identical really. Just like how a drop of ocean water has everything the entire ocean has. The difference is in amplitude. One meaning of amplitude is the extent of a quality, property, process, or phenomenon. Like say love is a quality of a drop of ocean water and a quality of the entire ocean as well. The love of a drop is the exact same as the love of the ocean. But the love of the ocean is immense. Unimaginable for a drop. A drop can't picture it, contain it, understand it. But the drop can purify itself so that no impurities come between it and what it is.
