That verse reminds me of how it is the mind and labeling that gives the sense of multiplicity. For instance, we may see a tree and point out a tree trunk, branches, many leaves and flowers. But it's just the tree. There are not really these 1000 things that the mind labels.

for anyone who DIDN'T drop out --

I do know it is a 'thing' for me to get peeved when people poke at my sense of vanity, then I do all sorts of stuff instinctively in my own defense but my vanity says I'm not allowed to do it so I lie to myself and say I'm not doing it to satisfy that. IOW I deliberately stay in the 'dark' so that I can feel 'good' about my own doings.

And I never truly understand what I'm doing to myself or others but instead like to think of myself as 'good' and 'virtuous'.

I have always assumed I'm not alone in such jerky kinds of behavior.

The fact that sky got peeved and dropped out rather than continue to talk to me is a strong indicator that something similar might be going on.

honestly I don't much care any more... she left and that is that. Story of my life.

yeah that is pretty much what the verse said . It goes on to say if you don't have a desire for how things should be 'seen' or 'perceived' you are able to see things other than what you suppose should be 'seen' or 'perceived'....

Sounds good. Like if we let go of ego and what the ego wants, then there is a peace in accepting and perceiving the world as it is. It's the ego's desires that cause a lot of upset, because you can't always get what you want.

I guess I'm on top of the world then, as I never get what I want
