EDIT: Just a clarification. The title should read "Innate Immune System - Contrast Showers & Forest Bathing"

There is no innate immunity, just an innate immune system that can potentially be bolstered by these practices and react more efficiently and robustly to new viruses.

Another important leg of innate immunity is metabolic. That is, both insulin and leptin resistance compromise the immune system.

A low carb diet minus sugars and refined carbs along with healthy fats (mind the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio) and restricted eating combined with intermittent fasting are enormously beneficial for the immune system and overall health.

Sleep too. Eight hours +/- an hour of uninterrupted quality sleep.

And exercise/physical activity.

It's really a mindset of lifestyle, and while it's for the long-haul getting started produces some results and relatively quick, and of course they accumulate over time.

The only point I'll emphasize is on the dietary side per my above post. It's mostly in line with my understanding, however refrain from sugars and refined carbs and go light on whole grains and fruits. That plays into minimizing the chance for insulin and leptin resistance, and that does supress the immune system.

Immunity and Vitamin D

If deciding to supplement with vitamin D it's important to understand that since it's fat soluble it accumulates and can lead to toxicity. The maximum safe daily dosage recommendation is 4,000 iu and the usual recommendation is 400-600 iu. Toxicity is usually observed in those taking over 10,000 iu over a period of months, but of course it's possible at lower levels so exercise caution.

I take 2,000 iu of D3 daily along with 100 mcg of K2 MK7.

Speaking of teamwork, vitamin D3’s natural partner is vitamin K2. The genius of this combo begins with proper respect for D3’s function of powerfully enhancing calcium absorption. Recent research has shown that excessive calcium intake alone can be harmful to the body. The additional calcium must be correctly utilized or it can show up in the wrong places and cause disease.

This is how very high doses of cholecalciferol kills rodents: excessive calcium uptake, deposition, and interference with normal cardiac and renal function. By conscientiously using vitamin K2 in conjunction with D3, this issue of “metastatic calcium” is thoroughly avoided.
