Anguish

In this phase of my life I understood the pattern of human life. I am fortunate to have embraced spirituality. I experienced the fun and excitement of human life and decided I’ve had enough. Also experienced the entertainment provided by online games and learnt the danger of not managing it effectively. I am mentioning this because a substantial amount of world’s population is entrapped in the virtual world. Games, trading, investment, conspiracy theories, occult and many others. The technology is relatively new and attracts large crowds. For the victims of this technology, everything else takes a backseat in life. The experience is addictive and never heard of anyone who quit this habit. My point is during the earlier days, there was some venue for entry into spirituality for the crowds. In this era, they are drawn as far away from God. Our dependency on technology is overwhelming and uncontrollable. People are looking for logic and pattern instead of love and faith. Relationships are not valued. The life once we lived as lovable family member is now under threat by smart phones in the hands of children today. I also understand that spirituality is not for all. But as members of this forum, we have the responsibility to save our community from the claws of the catastrophe that is awaiting them.

I don't think this is a catastrophe its all about Balance.
Managing problems as they come along. my kids all have phones but when they were younger they didn't i wouldn't allow it
All my kids are aware of spirit I was born seeing them.

But they all have other interests to so they don't sit in front of a computer playing games.

Namaste

People who are addicted to something stay addicted because they do not want to go through withdrawal. Withdrawal from a drug, including technology, is the opposite effect of the drug. If the drug is an upper, meaning it stimulates the user, the withdrawal will be a downer, meaning the person will become depressed.

Smoking cigarettes (nicotine) is a sedative, and back in the early 1900’s medical doctors used to encourage people to smoke to calm their nerves. We know today that nicotine causes cancer, and the opposite effect of nicotine is a “nicotine fit.” People who are addicted to alcohol drink to keep the withdrawal symptoms away.

It is a circular pattern. People get high on virtual reality and they crash when they don’t have it. The crash depends on how addicted they are. If the addiction is severe then the crash will be severe, if the addiction is mild then the withdrawal will be mild, etc.

In my opinion humanity has developed more on the outside than it has on the inside, within themselves in their own thoughts and feelings. A lot of virtual games are about violence, and competition, us against them, and cyber bullying is prevalent. You can not change another person, when people are ready they will attempt to change themselves. All we can do is share our journey with love and listen to others, for we all have a story to tell.

Small point, but it's tobacco that causes cancer, isn't it, rather than nicotine? Nicotine's just what they add to the tobacco to get people addicted, or so I've heard anyway (so I guess you could say that nicotine indirectly causes cancer, maybe that's what you meant).

Absolutely agree with what you said about humanity developing more on the outside than the inside though, which is precisely why people develop addictions - we don't know how to be with ourselves, so we end up looking for escapes in one form or another. You're also absolutely right, in my opinion, that we can only change ourselves, and people will only tend to resent our attempts to change them if they aren't committed to changing themselves.

A Human Being, your point is well taken. Nicotine is the addictive substance in tobacco.
But it is the “tar,” or total aerosol residue in tobacco, which causes cancer. Thank you for the
correction.
