Yoga
can have that effect on people, not with everyone but it happens. An experienced Yogi will tell you that when
something weighs on you mentally, it will likely weigh you down physically as well. If you have pent up emotion, it is very common for emotions to resurface in both Yoga and Meditation. There are certain asanas or poses that do provoke emotions. They say the energetic blocks are stored in tissues and muscles. If I remember correctly, feelings of anger usually occur with spinal related poses. Heartbreak and depression in the chest. Hips are related to built up emotional pain in general.
Just a tip, you may want to look into Chakras, Chakra cleansing,energy blocks, and Kundalini energy.
Give it time, it's most likely possible to happen again. Grounding and getting in tune with nature helps a lot.
