I don't think that "pride" (as a sin) is about ignorance, but about attitude.

You can be ignorant and be aware of your limited knowledge, which allows you to learn and progress: the pupil's position.

When you are sure that you know, sooner or later your limited and / or distorted knowledge will get back at you.

Ignorance isn't about "ignoring God', but about distorting what God is, and your belief that you know "what God is" would be an example of pride.

Imo.....

So, you disagree with Jesus.

Maybe you misunderstood what JC meant. Maybe, you are "guilty" of pride.

Being happy and proud you finished a 10K race is fine! Yay for you! You did it!
I think your heavenly Father is happy and proud, too!
Sure, better than feeling shame that you finished 100th!

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I can perceive you wish to make distinctions….could that be pride ? If one has limited knowledge it means that he remains ignorant of the full truth. There is something that he does not know….pure and simple. Actually we all fall into this category. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble”. Since this is the Christian forum it would be interesting for the defenders of pride provide some corroborating scripture. What I am hearing are examples of ‘innocent pride’ said without malice but unaware of the full source of their accomplishment.

'Pride' used to be the opposite of humility and meant some thing like vanity, then it was more like that satisfaction with something you did well, like being proud of your work, but now-days it's becoming the opposite of shame, guilt and repression. Soon it'll go the way of the word 'gay' and have none of the original meaning. That's how words change over time and why it's impossible to take the Bible literally.

Pride and Proud sometimes have different meanings and connotations.

From what I have 'seen', the word(s) can be used to help distinguish who my friends are and who are my 'enemies'.

Was Jesus a proud person? Who knows. He was God's first born and was the 'one' who created everything. I think most of us if we had those 'things' under our belt, would feel some pride and accomplishment(s).

No inavalan I'm 'Not guilty' , there's no 'Guilt' in having pride. Imo only.... Jesus is referring to excessive pride which is unhealthy/unwholesome....

Yes indeed. That is how I use the word.

Paul writes in Galatians 6:4, “Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself.”

Paul seems to understand...... It's how we use our 'Pride' not 'Pride' itself that causes the problems.Imo.

It seems apparent that the word Pride is double edged. It can mean both good and bad.
