We have been eating leftover chili since the forum went down...
No, No, just kidding!
Actually cooking up a storm on the cold days. We are supposed to be 5 degrees in a few days! Ekk! So bring on the warm heart soups and stews and crusty breads!

Attending a spiritual zoom meeting this evening so it's yesterday's leftovers, recipe adaptation - a layered beetroot tart.
Instead of the almond pastry, I experimented with wholemeal flour and gram flour...bit dry and gritty, needed an egg! The thinly sliced beetroot was bland, even with the capers, shallots, sage and oil topping. Oh well...

5 degrees! EEk is right! We will be be in the teens at night on the 25th and 26th. We still have tons of leaves on the trees! I hope the severe temps won't kill the trees like it did 6 or 7 years ago since the trees are not in hibernation yet.
Welcome to the forum ameliorate the forum has a hiccup on occasion. You just got your first initiation.

I often create a meal (as we all do) from what needs to be used up. Today this entailed capers and beetroot stems.
So for brunch I had some multigrain + rye toast with a baked beans medley! To a small tin of baked beans (no salt, sugar), I added some chopped organic baby plum tomatoes, garlic slivers, capers and chopped beetroot stems. It was a lovely combo!
In the past I've added organic pumpkin seeds to baked beans and/or home roasted peanuts - good contrast!
