hugging trees

does anyone of you hug trees? Can you feel what they feel?

i'm not a tree hugger, but i believe that we can feel in sync with plants.
there's been times when i'm walking through the neighborhood and i can
sense the benevolent energies of the trees that stand watch over us.
sometimes it seems that the trees recognize me, and know me by name.

A reminder of our connectivity with all life, and our sacred spiritual bond with Mother Earth.

No I can't feel what they feel. I am not advanced enough to know those things. But I feel love for them. I have always loved trees. Being in the woods feels like being 'home' for me on Earth, and always has done.
They feel almost like family members in a sense. I keep watch over them. Near me there are 5 huge Oak trees. All in obvious early leaf except one. I have been asking it what is the matter....trying to sense what is happening. I'm not sure yet what's going on. It has obviously been there at least 200 years probably longer.

I live in a area where most of the trees are public in my neighborhood. Thus, I don't think I have what it takes to go in public and hug a tree. Perhaps, in a more secluded area where no one is starring I might consider a hug or two.

Plants have energies, the same energies we Witches, Wiccans, and Pagans harness and manipulate to bring about change.

Haha, yes I have hugged a few trees in my lifetime...

The last one I remember hugging was when I was in Colorado back in the Summer of 2001 during a 2 week long college field trip. Anyway, we were hiking in the Alpine region of the mountains and the trees at the top were very old...I think the hiking guide said they were 3,000 year old trees that became twisted over time due to wind exposure over the years....For some reason I felt compelled to hug one of the trees before we had to leave (we were allowed to touch the trees)...The only thing I remember feeling was a deep and peaceful feeling of connectedness...

Lol! I used to do that a lot as a child. I grew up in a rainy climate and I would love how the trees in the wood would (wood would?...weird to say and write lol!) smell after it rained. The bark would be softer and the moss would be like sponge. I adored that.

I only ever got a sense of 'love and family' from most trees, but definitely they do have different qualities. Yew has a presence like an old monk to me, silent, knowledgeable and respectful. A master of stillness and patience.

Hawthorn is a tree for fairy magick according to folklore, but to me it seemed it should always be approached with a certain caution. It has a mesmerising wildness about it, like it may decide to take a disliking to you for no particular reason. Precarious, untamed and fond of disturbing the energies around it.

But to me, the one with the most magnificent soul is the mighty oak. The oak stands out from all the others. To me, they are THE masters. Their presence is humbling. They will always be my favourite :)
