Is the brain/nervous system the only parts of our body which can experience ESP (extra-sensory perception)?

That is an interesting question ...

How do we "perceive"? With our 5 senses apparently, but also with intuition. How do all of them work? What are we? Are we only these physical bodies? Are we more? What? Where? How and to what are we connected? Are there other senses we don't use, or we aren't aware we use?

What is the brain? What is its role?

I believe that everything is ESP, we just aren't aware of that, and we perceive only with our minds, with no body parts.

Does it matter how we perceive? We don't appear to have choice about or control of which mechanism does what.

I believe it matters, because the way we're educated in this society we aren't aware of the inner guidance we constantly receive, and ignore it. That means wasting the potential we were born with, and causes pain and suffering.

If it's EXTRA-sensory, then......no, unless some are blessed with an additional sense that most people and the neuroscientists don't know about.

The jury is out on this one because there is a lot of new information coming through, and nobody is quite sure how we sense those extra-sensory perceptions. It was thought that our sense of smell was 'mechanical' but the recent understanding is that it's quantum mechanics. We have quantum-capable areas of the brain that seem as though they were specifically designed to sense the quantum, so it's possible that ESP is related to quantum mechanics. Those parts are shielded from the rest of the electrical activity. Whatever we perceive though is still 'filtered' by the brain/mind anyway so.....

We can't ignore what we're not aware of but I take your point. Whether it's only (quote) "this society" (I'm not sure which that is...) or whether it's general to most societies I'm unqualified to judge.

It's hard to gauge how much potential any one of us was born with. I'm sure you're right that some individuals won't be able to take advantage of their personal potential but whether that argument could be extrapolated to everyone is debatable.

Add to the mix that mainstream education probably does not have the resources needed to do much else and we may need to look elsewhere for appropriate help into how we can recognise "inner guidance".
