What song changed you emotionally
Today, I was thinking of the song "Stranger in Moscow" by Michael Jackson - and through that one song, I could sense his sorrows and his understanding of many other people's sorrows
In the past, when I listened to that song from a certain emotional place, I even felt as if he would understand some of the things that I don't speak about to others
What song, do you think, changed you emotionally?

Great question! Interesting that you should be thinking of a song called 'Stranger In Moscow', given current events.
I remember when I was starting to awaken about ten years back, there were two songs in particular that I really connected with: 'Soma' by The Smashing Pumpkins, and 'Codex' by Radiohead. Both songs are, not to put too fine a point on it, pretty bleak, but they helped to bring feelings of loneliness and sorrow to the surface that I'd been avoiding for a long time, and that helped me to open up emotionally.

Many Christian songs-- no need to put youtubes, there are too many,
And ya don't have to be Christian to appreciate them.

It seems fitting to mention given what is happening in Ukraine right now. But does anyone remember the 80s song by Sting,"Russians?" It was about the Cold War. The chorus goes like this
"We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too "
I remember the song hit me very hard the first time I heard it. Another song from the 80's was Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven."

I've never heard the song, though I do remember it being referenced in the British sitcom 'Peep Show', funnily enough (one of the characters asks his flatmate if Sting really did wonder if Russians love their children, to which his flatmate replies that, no, it's a rhetorical question).

When you say Christian songs, you're not talking about Christian rock are you? Whenever I hear that sort of thing, I always just end up thinking it should be prosecuted for crimes against music - yeah, yeah, Jesus is great and we all suck, I get it!

Very good question ... there must be 5-10 songs that changed me emotionally or heralded a change that was already happening, I definitely had spiritual awakenings to at least 3-4 songs in particular and have been effected by hundreds of songs, so i'm going to think about this one and come back. And as you're a Michael Jackson Fan, I have been fairly moved by You are Not Alone and Ben of course, really beautiful songs.

In my teens I was a hippy so, predictably, All You Need Is Love by The Beatles really hit home!! Not just with me either since it was famously broadcast live via global satellite to an estimated 400 million viewers.
A fine message that could still transform our world...if applied!
