Question Empath?

Hi everyone!
On another site (all women site) I posted a pic of myself and the ladies on there said they felt I am am Empath.
But its a smaller group, and not a ton of information on being an empath...
I'm still trying to practice and understand it all. But I do believe i could be... I relate to many of the traits and have always been very sensitive, often feel crazy, like just overwhelmed with emotions I dont understand. I feel people's energy, their pain.. people seem to always come to me for advice but i have no idea why!
Just many many things...
So, these ladies told me some things i can do as far as centering, grounding and shielding. It's a bit difficult to focus at times nnd visualize as they said to.

I'm looking for other ideas to control these emotions, as well as any advice or stories you'd like to share about being an empath.

Emotion, just like melting ice, will never stay the same. Maybe there is no need to control them, but to accept them and just let them pass through you? It is when we identify with what we are feeling that reinforces the idea that this current situation cannot be changed. All form must pass, but YOU are here now.

Good point! Thank you!

But, now that you say that... I'm not sure if control was the best word choice there... more like learning to balance? center? Keep negative energy out?
Things like that, there was one breathing technique I found that was for centering your emotions... it seemed to help me manage my anger better, and I was curious to see if anyone else had different techniques they use.

Learning to sort you out first as an empath is a good starting point. So no matter what you feel in others, always self reflect on how you feel, how you process and let go back to centre. This helps you to be able to feel certain emotions without fear or locking yourself into them in some way. I am a predominate feeler type so feeling is a heightened response in me in every way. I feel deeply. So its important for me to clear and recentre. So in the beginning, I would do this by sitting with my feelings, listening to them and letting go. Often then I find I will process it out in some creative way of expression. So I may paint, write, share with others to offload anything I might be holding me from maintaining balance within myself.

Nowdays I can feel and let go fast so centering and overwhelm is less of an issue. But this is only because I consistently self reflected and let go fully to be more open and clear as an empath.

There is the technique of invoking the Violet Flame into your mind and energy field. It's a high form of energy that can be released and it devours negative energy and karma. I know from experience that invoking it has helped and made me feel 'lighter'. It won't keep the negative energy out, but it can transform the negative energy already in.

Can be difficult it's best to know your own thoughts and normal emotions first then you will know if you are picking up somebody else's thoughts and emotions I wear crystals to shield my energy meditation is very good but it's a life long thing to carry on with which I did successfully for 12 years it depends what type of empath you are as there are several types or you could be like me a mixed bag
