Hi Anthony,

It makes sense that you ask for a meditation to open a chakra because we do use the root chakra in meditation, but the root chakra is actually what anchors us as energy beings (souls) to the physical body. An open root chakra simply means that we are strongly grounded, strongly feeling our connection with our body, with the earth plane.

The only yogic technique I know for doing this is to pull up the perineum muscle and try to hold it up, engaged, while you sit in meditation. That way you do not drift off mentally while meditating.

This is also used to keep vital energy in the body to strengthen it.

What do you think?

Uma

You have to be in that relaxed heavy state before you can start to feel what you are looking for. I used this device for my stutter which got me interested in meditation. The device is meant for reducing distress. It monitors your biofeedback while you follow an oscillating line with your breath. After doing it I feel stress free, relaxed and all I did was breathe thoughtfully and rythmatically.

Before you try any of the energy work, do a breathing meditation. It gets much easier to feel the energy when you are the most relaxed. You want to allow the sensation to happen, as opposed to forcing it happen
Hi
Thanks for your reply
I do feel relaxed after but then i go back to my normal nervousness.
I know i try to much,i do 5 meditations but not everyday but i do 2 main meditations
20 min min every day.I started with a taoist breathing meditation audio course
So i do breathing meditation and i do visual centering with 1 of the
volunteers each day but that frustrates me.
I think i am going far back with my eyes and then i notice i am not so far back.I feel my arm and torso muscles are tense and i lean backwards when trying to go back with my eyes.I try to relax my face muscles but cant get back enough.Do u have any tips for the visual centering?
Once's i got far back and i really felt relax and confident around other people. How did you do it??
I want to do a root meditation to get rid of the nervousness i get when my fears run wild.
cheers

It's open already because you exist in a body.

Relaxation not meditation then. Try just sitting in a comfortable chair, put some nice gentle music on. Watch your breathing.

Use your imagination to send it down. Imagine roots going into the centre of the earth.

Do slow gentle deep belly breathing and with each out breath send the stress down into the earth and with each in breath breathe in peace.

These are all basic relaxation exercises.

I just read an excellent one that involves imagining yourself as an oak tree. Does that seem useful to you?

when you work with any chakra, it is important to look at what it does. what is the purpose of the chakra. work on that also. the obvious example is the heart. work on love.

when you want the root, think of the purpose of the root. to go deep. to be feed by nature/god. there are two things that get confused here. there is the root and the base. the base is the 1st chakra. the root is the 9th. it is part of the set that is off sight and in the finer bodies. it is the part of the bridge to spirit.

think on these things.

I noticed after opening my third eye, I was sneezing constantly, before it settled down. And I think the term "dangerous" is an over exaggeration. Sure kundalini symptoms can be annoying, until they subside.

I read the meditation it sounds like it might open your crown chakra
and i thought its dangerous to open that chakra's before opening
the root chakra's.
I am now confused

All chakras effect your physical, psychological and spiritual condition.
This is why you have to be careful when working on them.

When you activate chakras you also activate certain energies
that are in them that in return effect your being on all levels.

If there is dirty energy in them chakras will disintegrate
and expel part of them which is very beneficial
but some dirty energies they will not be able to destroy.
These dirty energies will expand and effect you.
If you continue to activate them regularly and too fast
these hard core dirts will expand more and more.

If you activate them slightly effect will be smaller.
If you activate them more effect will be more serious.
This can lead to serious damages physically, psychologically and spiritually.
Sometimes it can lead to paralyses or death.

This is why in every serious spiritual practice you develop your chakras slowly
or if you want to develop them faster
purifications and usually help from spiritual world(from angels saints and so on)
play a great role in spiritual development.

Your lower chakras are connected to your lower nature
Your higher chakras are connected to your higher nature.

If you activate lower ones first you will have harder time activating
higher ones and maintaining this condition.
It can actually have reverse effect!
Lower chakras also usually have more dirty energies.
Activating higher ones first will help disintegrating these energies.

Lower chakras must be strong but they must be under the control
of your higher nature or in other words
under the control of your higher chakras.
This is a purpose of spirtual dvelopment
- becoming a better being and servant of divine.

As you can see this is a very very serious topic
and there are some serious stuff that we haven't even mentioned.
This is why we have to follow great spiritual teachers that are
highly spiritually developed and that have a large connection with
their teachers and with God.

In some spiritual practices they barely mention the chakras
but they still activate them unconsciously during spiritual practice.
For an example in Christianity.

Meditation that I have mentioned is an amazing tool that will help you
to activate higher chakars first but activate lower ones also.
It cleanses them at the same time and you also get a help
from a higher world that ensures safe and powerful effect.
It is given by a great spiritual teacher. It is very easy and simple.
You can do it twice a day.

If you want to understand this topic better I recommend
work of Alice Bailey and Arthur E. Powell
and especially Master Choa Kok Sui
He is a great spiritual teacher and through his teachings
you will be able to understand this
topic precisely and at the same time
get very simple instructions how to advance fast.
You can start with books like "Chakras and their functions"
and "Achieving oneness with a higher soul"
Just these two book will give you tremendous amount of knowledge

Om love makes a very good point about taking it slowly. Also, why not check out some books (literally, at the library so you don't spend lots of $$) and get some in-depth knowledge? I'm sure some of the members here can recommend titles they've read. I haven't read any of the books at the link, so I don't feel comfortable recommending them personally, but these are some popular titles at Amazon that may also be available at a library: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...ywords=chakras
