Well, most people so far have looked at the book or DVD of The Secret firsthand and reviewed it as good. Yet people still buy into the media-envy of a person (Rhonda Byrne) and repeats bad, paranoid press, ironic isn't it? 
The article you quoted Merlin, they would've been best to get our thoughts on The Secret since myself & people I know think it was fun, lighthearted, entertaining and uplifting.

Lol, yeah, good news obviously can be a hard pill to swollow so might as well ingest something else, but hey, whatever gives the biggest kicks & floats your boat I guess, whether getting information from the local rag or real life, tehehe.
