Hahahaha! I'm shuffling the cards while thinking about the plot ... it's not getting any more cheerful yet though.

The Tower reversed, 3 of Swords, Knight of Cups

He could see she was clinging to a thread, trying to rebuild her life, and despite the pain he knew would be coming his way, he couldn't resist her. He still remembers her reaction when he offered to help her.

2 of Cups, Justice, 8 of Coins

As he reached out to offer her the cup of tea, their hands brushed. In that instant Celeste knew, whatever the outcome of this meeting, her fate lay with him, his decision to condemn or pardon for her poor choices. Her desire to become a better person, leave behind the sordid world of drugs and drinking, would take a lot of hard work. It was work she was prepared to do.

it looking like it's getting cheerier, thank goodness.

6 of Cups, the Emperor, the Moon

Doh!

She had strange memories of her deceased husband. Yes, he was controlling ... but she felt a strange comfort, she had always been able to rely on him. He did everything for her, she didn't have to make any decisions for herself. And now she left confused and afraid to take the path that lay in front of her, her imagination going wild with incessant doubts.

Sod this, I'll pick another card ...

Ace of Cups

Yay!

She pushed her doubts aside, as feelings of overwhelming desire and hope surged inside her, her head spinning with the thought of having love in her life once again.

6 of Swords, 5 of Cups, 5 of Coins

Celeste knew that with someone at the helm, she could get to a better place. She regretted allowing her despair to lead her to her addictions and that in becoming an addict of drink and drugs. she had ended up destitute. No one could ever know that she had abandoned her young son in the church, her biggest regret of all.

I refuse to leave it here so pulled more cards
2 of Swords, Judgement (oh dear god), The Moon and The Hierophant

It was not a decision she had taken lightly, but she knew that the reality of the situation meant she had to close her heart and do what was needed. She knew it was a decision she would have to answer to at some point in her life, she would never be able to forgive herself.
Would the boy feel as if he had been deceived? what if he couldn't understand her reasons?
Yet she knew the friendly parish vicar would take care of her boy, she knew he would be brought up to be 'good' and maybe the vicar had taught her boy his views on forgiveness and love.

Hahahaha! You crack me up! I'm glad it's not just me! I'm going to go away and think happy thoughts before I pull the next cards.

Honestly, you just know it's not going to end well. I don't think Disney have anything to worry about

Talk about a tragedy.

7 of Cups, King of Wands

The more she got to know Alex, the more the possibilities opened up in front of her. For the first time in many, many years, Celeste started to feel in control of her destiny. It was as if a part of Alex was seeping into her veins. She felt like a different person, she was starting to see the world as the adventure she knew it could be.

I'm stopping while I'm ahead

Queen of swords

Celeste realised that as well as feeling in control of her destiny, after what she had been through she had the sense there was something better coming her way with Alex and she had the opportunity to get over her sad past.

The Chariot, 10 of Pentacles (Rider Waite)

The taxi's horn cut through the thick fog below. With a jolt, he swilled back his whisky and grabbed his briefcase, before making his way down the stairs. He would have to put his thoughts of Celeste behind him for now, he couldn't afford to be distracted, at least not until he found out why he had been urgently summoned to his father's office - little did he know, that this meeting that would change the course of his life.

Strength, High Priestess, Death

'Hold it together Alex', he told himself, as he walked into the foyer of his father's offices, a place where he always felt intimidated. It was something he was learning to master though, 'show him no fear', he thought. For as much as his father loved him, in business, Alex was just another employee.

As Alex stepped out of the elevator he had a strange feeling that something didn't seem right. Unable to pinpoint what his gut was trying to tell him, he paused before knocking on his father's door. This late at night he didn't feel the need for formalities and pushed down on the handle.

'Dad? What's the matter? Do you know what time it is?

The glow from the desk lamp allowed Alex to see his father sitting in his chair, staring off into space.

'Dad. Is everything OK? '

Slowly his father began to lean forward, just as Alex noticed the knife glinting from between his father's shoulder blades.
