Perfect Brilliant Stillness
***
Some of us may find this book a good read. Here is an extract:
“ If awakening, the Understanding, is to happen, it wili happen, but I absolutely assure you it will not happen as a 'result' of a dream character performing some practice. A practice may happen. Awakening may happen. But there is not a linear causal relationship between the two.
Put another way. When you are asleep and dreaming, what does a character in your dream 'do' to cause that character to wake up? It is the dreamer, not the character, who 'wakes up,'and waking up happens when it happens, for reasons well and thoroughly outside the control of any of the characters in the dream, including the character which in the dream vou think is you.”

Well – yes and no.
A sketch.
I would agree with David Carse that it is not exactly the linear/dualistic thinking mind of the character which can become aware of nonduality.
Imo. it is rather – the ‘condition/state’ of our energy-fields.
*
There are many levels or depths to non-duality.
I would call the ‘horizontal’ (i.e. experiencing nonduality “with” someone) a ‘micro ascension’, because it is like ‘telepathy’, though nondually it means direct inner knowing or “seeing” – or transparency in the immediate sense. But in telepathy and transparency both, you realize that there are no borders or boundaries for awareness. Like space it is everywhere. 'Privacy' or the dual barrier is like ice - the openness of nonduality melts.
It is completely natural and normal for a hunter-gatherer, a tribal/collective identity to already know this ‘first step’. So this first step, the openness or the absence of the dual barrier is like the proverbial horse that has already been led to water. Then it is up to the horse whether to drink or not.
From drinking …. ‘Shamanism’ begins or ascension on the ‘vertical’ or should one say - ‘a love affair with Totality’.
I don’t know what this image represents, but the Circle to me represents Totality, within which one learns the path of ascension i.e. functioning in ever more subtle levels of nonduality:

…… being very aware of one’s energetic (energy-field) ripples within that Totality:

People who are not aware of their energy-fields are not aware of how their ‘energetic ripples’ affect Totality within the medium of space.
Becoming aware and taking full responsibility of our ‘energetic ripples’ within Totality – is to begin to awake, so it is a practice, and with that practice one starts to gain insights into how Totality – Interconnectedness Energy – individual manifestations triad functions. (present avatar)

We associate the Bell with awakening, but there is the story of the man who when stealing a bell covered his own ears so that nobody would hear anything.
- Which to me – means the fall into duality:
Quote:
The first step or skandha, the birth of ego, is called "form" or basic ignorance. We ignore the open, fluid, and intelligent quality of space.

….. Well – the spatial awareness of Totality.
*
It is only after awakening that the ‘awareness of oneness’ (so to speak) learns to dance to the Interconnected energies of Totality effortlessly with perfect timing. That is the 'power' of no power':

This perfectly resonates with me.
We are all dreamed characters in a "Waking Dream"
The dreamed character has absolutely no role to play to awaken from the "Waking Dream"
