"Travellin' soldier"--performed by Dixie Chicks ( now The Chicks ). Written by Bruce Robinson. 1990.

And

"Willie McBride" --also known as "Green fields of France".--various artists. Written by Australian born Scottish songwriter Eric Bogle 1976 as "No Man's Land".

(Thanks to internet for the additional information--of which I was previously ignorant.)

Just listened to "All Together Now", by The Farm, on Greatest Hits Radio UK.
Not a song I was familiar with, -- online enquiry yields information that it was first recorded as "No Man's Land" for a John Peel session in 1983 and released re-titled as "All Together Now". in 1990. (Last line of repeated chorus is---All Together Now in No Man's Land. )-- reference to WW 1 Christmas truce. A spontaneous troop lead event not subsequently repeated. Cheers X.

Hello all.

Had this evening thought to add "Candles in the rain" by Melanie. Have mentioned it before in this section on different thread. Beautiful song and beautifully sung. -- we often tried to do it justice by singing and playing at demos and gatherings.
Was not sure how to spell her surname ( she used only her first name as a performing artist I believe.) Decided to look up on line, and discovered that Melanie Sanka died 2 days ago--according to wiki entry.
RIP. Melanie. and thanks,

Cheers.X.

Edited to correct song title. X.

Hello all.
Re post 17.
Some confusion with the song title. I have long time known it as "Lay down"---but maybe incorrectly?
Cheers.X.

Hello all.
A song with lyrics by Bill Cad****--about turn of century (21st.!)

Various artists. Including Chris Foster on album "All things in Common" . On YouTube and his version entitled "I dreamed that there were Unicorns".

Also sung by June Tabor. Her version also on YouTube. Either titled (as I recall)--"Unicorns" or "I dreamed there were Unicorns". Cheers.X
