Better abilities lead to unwanted sights and sounds?

Lately, my attitude to different things is improving, and my connection with God, angels and guides appears to be getting better. Since these improvements, however, I've caught a couple of small black shadows dashing at the corners of my eyes. I'm also sure I heard a couple of footsteps last night in the hallway, not coming from anybody else. Now, I'm not 100% sure if what I've been seeing and hearing is accurate, but I'm guessing that the more we improve our abilities to connect with other levels of reality, the more we're likely to encounter these things. Would you say that is true?

One interesting thing I've noticed is that I'm not very bothered by these things. The sound of the footsteps had my eyes open, but it wasn't so bad. In the past, I never really encountered anything, but any time I thought I did, my anxiety levels would shoot through the roof. Nonetheless, I thought I'd speak to God and request he send Archangel Gabriel to escort away any unwanted visitors. What was quite awesome is that after I had finished my prayer, I saw a spark of white light dash out of sight. The only thing I don't understand is that this is the second time I've seen something like that, but the light is always by the same shelves above my bed, which I mentioned in another topic as containing a collection of masks, some of which are grim in appearance. I don't know if it's just my eyes and my ears playing tricks on me, but I thought I'd share it.

I agree with your statement that better abilities lead to more supernatural things happening. I haven't seen a ghost since I was 6. I've had very strange things happen, but no apparitions. I started meditating about a year ago when I met someone into spirituality.

On Thanksgiving Day, 2013, coming back from my mom's house; I was about a quarter mile from my house when I saw a ghost. At first I thought someone was messing around but it soon dawned on me that the person there wasn't real. I blinked and everything. Just like in the movies. Haha.

My friend subsequently told me (when I told her what happened) that when you open yourself up to the spiritual world by meditation, your mind expands and you're more apt to experience supernatural things.

Your post, Sunset Dragon, leads me to ask a couple things. First, what methods of self-development have you been using? Secondly, what do you see as the function of the masks on the shelves above your bed? (and wondering, too, about the "grim" ones)

Interesting story, LondonBound! When you saw the spirit, was your reaction what you expected? Growing up, I was terrified at the idea of spirits, and always assumed that seeing one would have me running in the opposite direction!

Tanemon, I've been working on meditation and automatic writing. I've been opening up to God, which seems to have made a huge difference in my ability to notice signs. On the note of signs, I've allowed myself to open up to them more so by not restricting myself to a single type of sign or ruling them out as quickly as I did. I've generally just been expanding my mind.

I've been interested in masks for a long time, whether they're cultural masks, artistic, or just something I want to wear for Halloween. At the same time, I'm interested in the psychology behind masks, but also 'relate' to them in that I've often lived behind a mask.

This is all very interesting to me because I am also where you are. You have a very good perspective (in my opinion) and I am going to do exactly what you did. I am going to call upon God and ask for his help. Most of my "visions" when I am meditating are very positive but I occasionally will see something I don't like. I have been surrounded by angels lately (in orb form) and I find this thrilling. I hope to read more on this thread!

Yes I agree with you Sunset Dragon. I get glimpses of "spirits" these days... but light coloured I would say. A few weeks back, I glimpsed towards my husband's desk with his computer on, and saw him there. I was on my way to our kitchen. Got to the kitchen and....err...my husband was there hehe So I guess that was a spirit I saw at his computer

And, yes, I don't bat an eyelid these days. Just figure there's a lot of spirits around me right now.

I would agree. The closer we get to our divine nature the more we will be encouraged to embrace and love All That We Are.

The dark energies within us are present for a very good and worth while purpose.

There really is no way to avoid some aspects of the self. In the truly greater sense of who you are, all that is resides within you. The appearance of these unwanted visitors may well be an invitation to get to know yourself better.

@SunsetDragon actually, it's more like I would have imagined. At first I was shocked that someone was standing outside in a nightgown in the middle of the night staring straight ahead. It only dawned on me it was a ghost when I looked back and she was still standing there staring straight ahead. Other cars passed by as though nothing was happening. A little freaky to say the least! Lol.
