Blessing objects?

I am thinking of blessing some objects in my home. Is there a way of doing that, what is most successful?

I have read online and do I really need to take the objects with me to a church to ask to have it blessed there? Or can I do it myself? Or will it because I myself have an attachment, history with the object not be a good idea that I then go and bless it? Will it be less successful then, the blessing?

All my stuff is mixed up in one another and I have lost trace of what is from who so I figured I would go and bless them all then.

I have thought that some spirits, energies can be attached to objects. Can the same thing happen with still alive people to objects? I am trying to detach and surround the object with a different positive energy.
