Cankama Sutta.

" Monks, there are these five benefits of walking up & down. What five?

One is fit for long journeys; one is fit for striving; one has little disease, that which is eaten, drunk, chewed, tasted, goes through proper digestion; the composure attained by walking up and down is long-lasting.

These Monks are the five benefits of walking up & down."

This is the shortest Sutta I've personally read but so easy to put into practise and experience the benefits. The Buddha mentioned ' mindfully walking ' in the Maha Satipatthana Sutta .

“And further, when walking, the monk discerns, ‘I am walking.’ When standing, he discerns, ‘I am standing.’ When sitting, he discerns, ‘I am sitting.’ When lying down, he discerns, ‘I am lying down.’ Or however his body is disposed, that is how he discerns it.

“In this way he remains focused internally on the body in & of itself, or externally on the body in & of itself, or both internally & externally "

“Each step brings you back to the present moment, which is the only moment in which you can be alive.”. Thich Nhat Han.

Great post~ I’m also learning to be mindful of my body and my presence in the now rather wishing I was else where~ I find that life puts us where we need to be[at any given moment] it’s actually a perfect life~ being in the now than wishful [having a imagination is great] but to really understand and live, we need to embrace how we are now-

Practicing this mantra will really help you see more insight into what we have at these given moments—-

Being now serves us to be honest with our self’s- and also being centred; fretting about the future will get you no where you will only have to embrace it when it comes- made well start with where you are now~

Great post! Insightful

Life definitely puts us where we need to be although not always where we want to be . Sometimes we do tend to wish that we are somewhere else rather than where we actually are but living can only happen now, the next moment may never come. While practicing 'Walking Meditation' we should enjoy each step without thinking of arriving anywhere down the path, we're already there, now.
