"Nation's favourite bear shot by hunter"

News today.

A black bear, named Hope, whose birth was broadcast over the internet has been shot by a hunter quoted as saying "I would not have shot the animal if I had known it was her".
SO, shooting a harmless, un-named bear is OK !

Hope's birth was watched by thousands online, while 500 US schools have been following Hope, her mother Lily, and new cub,Faith, on the Bear Centre's website.

Any comments ?

Here's mine. Hunters are sick, sadistic individuals ! Gun Laws ? - time for a rethink.

I am devastated at this news. I watched the 3 programmes by Gordon Buchannon on the family & feel like I knew them.
I simply cannot (thank god) understand the mentality of these morons who shoot any liveing thing as a 'so called sport' why ?????
It's not big & not clever to take a life, why can people not understand. It physically hurts me to read about such acts
At least Hope is now in a better place where she is free of such morons

Death Likely, Not Officially Confirmed Yet

This article notes it is legal to kill a bear, although officially discouraged to kill one that is wearing a research collar.

Just because it is legal does NOT make it right

"recreational hunting" - that really demonstrates the sickness of Gun Culture !
Someone getting their jollies by shooting a defenseless animal.

However, I have a solution. Set aside a tract of land where hunters could hunt each other ! This would protect the wild life and go some way to cleanse the human gene pool.

We've been fighting the NRA [here in the US] for decades. The gun nuts have wrapped themselves in the Constitution and the Supreme Court has agreed with them that they have the right to bear arms. It goes so much beyond recreational hunting. These gun nuts are using high powered rifles with laser sites. There was a case about 10 years ago where a woman in Maryland was shot and killed in her own back yard because a hunter a mile away (a freakin mile away!!) saw her white nightgown through the trees and thought she was a deer!!

imho this is one sick individual... but... I like to look for the positive in everything.... if the nation has been following this bear it is possible that a nation of children will grow up understanding how devastating hunting is. Hopefully they will see the hypocracy (sp? sorry) of this and if it means that 2 kids that were heading down that road are turned away then it was worth it.

I would love every wild animal to walk free without fear of man killing it, but if in one dying others are saved then there is a tiny chink of silver lining there.

Still think he is a "unrepeatable words" and I hope is karma gets him fast!!!!
