Urgent help for horse-fly bite

Hi there all

I hope someone here can help. I was bitten on my little finger by a horse-fly this morning. It is very painful. The bite itself is not terribly swollen, but my whole arm is tingly and uncomfortable and I feel shaky. I have taken some anti-histamine and used anti-histamine cream on it.

I was wondering if there are any herbal remedies that will help for this. Unfortunately, it would need to be something I can find easily.

Thanks so much!

Well, to be safe, I would probably go see a doctor.

Energetically speaking, there are a couple of meridian points that lead into the little finger, one including the heart meridian. This meridian starts right under the armpit and extends to the tip of the pinky finger (as far as I know). So, the bite may have caused a sort of "pinched nerve." An acupuncturist may actually be able to help if you can't get relief from a regular doctors visit. There are strengthening as well as sedation points for the meridians. I wonder if that bug caused one or the other... but I would talk to an acupuncturist if nothing else works.

Thank you so much. I will have a look at acupuncture. The shaking has fortunately stopped and now it is just still sore. Thanks again.

I would recommend using tea tree oil or what it is also named, Meleleuca oil. It will help numb the area and is a natural antibacterial/healing agent. I would wash the area with antibacterial soap, and repeat that several times a day. This would be followed by a small application of the tea tree oil. Tea tree oil can be found at an natural food place or sometimes at supermarkets that carry a natural food section.
Probably soaking the area in cool water for short increments would be helpful as well.

Yes Tea Tree and Meleleuca are great antiseptics. So is tincture of Echinacea Angustifolia, which if applied to a wound will often heal it quickly. Friar's Balsam (often forgotten about!) works well too. I have heard the SAS always carry it with them on field trips!

How is the horse fly bite now? It's possible you had a mild immune reaction. When the immune system kicks in to fight, it can often make you feel a bit weird for a day or so.
